APG AVIONICS PRESENTS CONTROP’S LINE OF S.I.T.E. SYSTEMS AT HELI-EXPO 2016

Published on: February 4, 2016

Punta Gorda, FL. APG Avionics (APG) – a global leader in the supplying of avionics and aviation equipment for para-military and military applications – announces that it will present CONTROP Precision Technologies Ltd’s (CONTROP) new line of S.I.T.E. systems in APG’s booth 11535 at Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) HELI-EXPO on March 1 – 3, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky. APG and CONTROP have signed a Teaming Agreement in which APG will represent CONTROP’s airborne products and mission systems for the Police, Law Enforcement and Search and Rescue (SAR) market in the United States as well as provide installation, local customer support and maintenance.  The new line of S.I.T.E. systems has the ability of converting helicopters into an advanced Electro Optical InfraRed (EO/IR) mission surveillance system.  These surveillance systems are most commonly used for a variety of law enforcement applications including Police, SAR, Fire Fighting, Coastal Surveillance and Border Protection and Control.

APG will hold a news conference on March 1st at 11:00am EST at Heli Expo in Room B101. APG will showcase the following CONTROP systems: SITE-20, SITE-30HD and SITE-50HD. The acronym S.I.T.E. stands for Surveillance, Infrared, Thermal and Electro-optical which represent integral aspects of these advanced systems. The S.I.T.E. camera payloads are gyro-stabilized EO/IR day/night systems which include a thermal imaging camera with a continuous optical zoom lens and proprietary state-of-the-art image enhancement features.  The high performance low weight S.I.T.E. systems are field proven and very operator friendly due to their superb gyro-stabilization and outstanding image quality, making them the most cost effective payloads when compared to other similar systems in the market.

CONTROP was established in 1988 and has vast experience with installations on a variety of commercial helicopters including Bell 206, Bell 407, AS350 and more.  CONTROP also has extensive experience with installations on military helicopters including Mi-17, Mi-24, Kamov and more. In addition, CONTROP EO/IR camera payloads fly on fixed wing light aircraft (A/C) including Diamond, Cessna, Piper and other A/C, as well as UAVs and SUAVs.

According to APG President, Boris Nekrasov, “We are confident that various US agencies will recognize the benefits to this line of S.I.T.E systems for surveillance as well as for search and rescue missions.”  APG and/or its subsidiaries have been exhibiting annually at HAI’s Heli Expo for the past 9 years, both in the U.S. and internationally.

APG has successfully collaborated with other manufacturers in the helicopter industry. APG worked with UT Air to upgrade 32 United Nations (UN) helicopters in becoming compliant with the mandate that an all-terrain awareness system (TAWS) be installed in all UN aircraft. APG is scheduled to install the TAWS system in another 26 helicopters. APG worked closely with Sandel Avionics to meet Russian Government certification requirements for their ST3400H HeliTAWS product. APG worked with Shadin Avionics to develop a connector specifically designed to enable Western avionics to be installed in Russian helicopters.
